The Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee has called for a meeting with the Secretary General of the Department of Foreign Affairs to discuss funding under the Irish Aid programme.

The chairman of the committee, Deputy John McGuinness, said the committee was unhappy that €4m had gone missing in Uganda.

He said there were further questions to ask on €37m in aid given to Mozambique.

Speaking at the end of a five-day visit to Mozambique, Deputy McGuinness said the delegation saw that every effort was made to ensure that money was monitored and accounted for, but there were weaknesses in every system.
