CAB to sell John Gilligan's equestrian centreThursday 15 November 2012 23.37
The Criminal Assets Bureau is to sell the Jessbrook Equestrian Centre, which was owned by convicted drug dealer John Gilligan, 16 years after it was first seized.
The complex in Mucklon, Co Kildare, includes indoor and outdoor arenas, stables, seating for over 3,000 people, apartments, offices and 90 acres of land.
The Supreme Court has given the bureau permission to dispose of the properties and the sign on the building was taken down today.
Gilligan spent €2m buying and developing Jessbrook before he was sent to prison.
The complex was at the centre of his attempts to launder more than €2m he made from drug dealing in less than three years, and to portray himself as a legitimate businessman involved in equestian sport.
