The Older and Bolder lobby group has held a protest outside the Dáil to highlight their dismay at the cuts proposed by Government to home help and home care packages in the forthcoming Budget.
About 100 people took part in the protest, displaying placards and voicing opinion on what they term distressing and illogical cuts.
It is part of their ongoing campaign, which also involves constituency visits, petition signing and online action by older people as well as their friends and families.
Its director Patricia Conboy handed in a letter to TD Jerry Buttimer, who is chairman of the health committee.
She said the withdrawal of nearly one million home help hours will "devastate the prospect of safe and healthy ageing at home".
