Water supplies in some areas of Dublin were disrupted today as Dublin City Council carried out essential works.

DCC said tonight that the works had been completed and normal service should be fully restored by midnight.

The council said that as a result of the works some residents might notice discoloured water coming from their taps.

In such cases, residents are advised to allow the water to run for a period, until the water clears.

Affected areas included the Infirmary Road, from North Circular Road to Conyngham Road, the Conyngham Road from Parkgate Street to Islandbridge, and the North Circular Road from Infirmary Road to Saint Peter's Church in Phibsborough.

Disruption was also expected in Stoneybatter, Grangegorman and surrounding areas.

Further information is available on the council's website.
