SIPTU has called on the Department of Transport to inspect conditions on a bulk tanker docked at the Aughanish plant near Foynes in Limerick.
The crew of the Pioneer Atlantic raised a number of concerns about the ship's safety with the International Transport Workers' Federation.
They also spoke out about their fresh food and water supply, as well as the working conditions.
SIPTU has negotiated wages and return journeys home to the Philippines for five crew members.
