The Government has pledged to publish legislation altering the roles of Shannon Development, Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland by the end of the year.
The legislation will remove the legal restriction preventing Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland from carrying out enterprise development functions in the Shannon Free Zone.
Last May, Minister for Jobs and Enterprise Richard Bruton and Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar announced the Government's plans to create a "new world class aviation industry" at Shannon.
The plan is part of a series of reforms of Government agencies operating in the region.
