Customs officials seized 7.6m contraband cigarettes in Dublin Port yesterday.

The cigarettes with an estimated retail value of €2.9m were discovered on a vessel that arrived from Zeebrugge in Belgium.

The "Capital" and "Master" brand cigarettes were discovered in a shipment marked as furniture.

Officials seized an Irish-registered vehicle and trailer. The driver was interviewed.
