People across Ireland reported seeing bright objects crossing the sky last night, which were thought to be a meteor shower.
Astronomy Ireland said there were sightings all over the country.
AI Chairman David Moore said fragments of the meteor probably survived the fall to the ground.
He asked anyone who saw what happened to contact the organisation.
