Vodafone is to contribute €40,000 to a number of Irish charities as a result of agreement with the Data Protection Commissioner over a number of unsolicited marketing communications made by the company.
In a statement, the Data Protection Commissioner said Vodafone cooperated fully on the cases and as a result the cases are being closed.
It also says that Vodafone will donate the €40,000 in recognition of their "procedural failures."
The company is also to make "goodwill gestures" to each person who complained about the communications.
