Card payment company SumUp is creating 40 jobs in Dublin as it sets up a customer, technical support and development centre.
SumUp's products help small businesses overcome issues with accepting credit and debit card payments.
The company is supported by IDA Ireland and recruitment is already under way.
SumUp chief executive Daniel Klein said the launch of the company's technology in Ireland has proven to be very successful.
He said a lot of small businesses are operating within very tight margins and cannot afford to lose out on making a sale because they cannot process a card payment.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton said the announcement is very welcome.
He said it is further evidence that Ireland is a key location for dynamic technology companies operating in fast-growing sectors of the industry.
IDA Ireland's chief executive Barry O'Leary said SumUp is an exciting addition to the cluster of emerging businesses that have chosen to base themselves in Dublin over the past few months.
