Paralympic gold medal-winning swimmer Darragh McDonald was given a rapturous welcome at his school in Gorey this afternoon.
The school's 1,600 pupils and staff came out to line the avenue into the grounds as the 18-year-old was driven around in a convertible car.
Darragh addressed the crowd from a balcony and thanked them for their support and encouragement.
He won gold in the S6 400m freestyle in London and came fourth in the 100m freestyle.
The Gorey homecoming was one of a number that took place as Paralympic athletes returned to their towns and villages.
Over 1,000 people turned out to welcome home Paralympic medal winners Mark Rohan and Damien Shaw in Co Westmeath tonight.
The cyclists were greeted by a pipe band and representatives of dozens of other sports when they arrived in the village of Ballinahown.
The Army Equitation School in Dublin also hosted a reception for the multi-medal winning equestrian team.
