An explosion and fire at an ammunition depot in western Turkey has killed 25 soldiers and wounded four others.

The blast occurred last night in the province of Afyonkarahisar at a section of the depot where hand grenades were kept.

The bodies were discovered early this morning after a fire caused by the explosion was extinguished.

Officials ruled out a terrorist attack and said the cause was accidental.

Some unexploded hand grenades were found strewn around the storage facility after the explosion and authorities are working to defuse them.
