Dublin senior football manager Pat Gilroy has stepped down following his side's All-Ireland semi-final defeat to Mayo.
A statement from Dublin’s GAA County Board confirmed that Mr Gilroy had called time on his four year term as manager, the highlight of which was an All-Ireland Championship win last year.
Appointed in 2009, the St Vincents clubman also won four Leinster Championships along with a National League title during his time in charge.
Mr Gilroy said it was a “huge honour” to manage the team but that balancing his personal and professional commitments with the role had also proven to be a challenge.
Dublin County Committee Chairman Andy Kettle said Mr Gilroy had done an “outstanding job” as manager and he regretted his decision to leave.
He said the County Committee will begin considering a replacement for Mr Gilroy and his management team shortly.
