Sinn Féin wants all parties to support its call to reverse local government funding cuts at tonight's meeting of Dublin City Council.

Local authorities had their finances reduced by between 5% and 15% after funding was linked to each council's collection of the €100 Household Charge.

Speaking in Leinster House today, Sinn Féin Environment Spokesperson Brian Stanley said Environment Minister Phil Hogan had unfairly sprung this on councils when the Dáil was in recess.

He said councils already took major cuts last year and could not endure further reductions.
