Around 50,000 American Football fans gathered at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin to watch Notre Dame take on Navy.
Notre Dame ran out easy winners on a scoreline of 50-10.
The game was billed as the Emerald Isle Classic and was the opening game in the college football season.
It is estimated that the occasion will be worth €100m to the Irish economy.
Thousands attended a sold out pre-game musical event at the 02 Arena last night.
Minister for Tourism and Sport Leo Varadkar said it was an amazing weekend for Irish tourism and it had lived up to its promise.
Speaking before the game, Mr Vardakar said the short-term dividend was €60m in terms of benefit to hotels, restaurants and transport companies.
But he said there was a longer-term dividend in showcasing The Gathering to a US audience.
