The mother of a missing Wicklow teenager has appealed to anyone with information about her son’s disappearance to come forward.
Catherine Sheehan has asked anyone who knows what happened to her son James to contact gardaí in Arklow.
Searches took place in the town today for the 18-year-old, who has been missing since early on Sunday morning.
A search was carried out along the banks of the Avoca River and continued until nightfall.
Mr Sheehan spent Saturday night socialising in a nightclub in Arklow. He then got a lift to the nearby Willow Grove housing estate.
Gardaí are investigating reports that a man was seen being bundled into a car.
Mr Sheehan was seen again walking back into town at around 3am.
He sent a text to his friend two hours later, but there has been no contact since then.
Mr Sheehan is described as being 6'2" in height, of athletic build and has short red hair.
Gardaí in Arklow said they are treating the matter very seriously.
