The PSNI came under attack from a large crowd throwing bricks and bottles in Craigavon, Co Armagh overnight.
It happened after officers were sent to investigate suspicious activity in the Ardowen area at around 1am.
About two hours later, a car was hijacked at Monbrief East Road and set alight.
A spokesman for the police said the youths dispersed at about 4am but officers remained in the area for a time to monitor the situation.
