2,000 cars taken off the road after failing NCT

Over 2,000 cars that failed the National Car Testing service this year were taken off the road because they were too dangerous.

Results for the first six months of 2012 show that almost 300,000 cars, or half of the vehicles tested between January and July, failed and had to return for retests.

Speaking on RTÉ's Morning Ireland, the Automobile Association's Conor Faughnan said people are using the NCT to see what is wrong with their cars before fixing them.
