A four-year-old boy has died following an accident at the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin.
Loghan Joyce was swimming with his father when the accident occurred at around 6.30pm yesterday evening.
The child was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he was pronounced dead late last night.
Gardaí have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses who were in or around the pool at the time to come forward.
A spokesperson for the centre said the accident happened in the recreational aqua zone area.
He said the boy was immediately attended to at the scene before being taken to hospital.
The spokesperson said the aqua zone has been closed until further notice.
He extended his sympathy to the boy's family.
