The Air Corps has confirmed that the air ambulance service based in the midlands is to resume full service tomorrow from Custume Barracks in Athlone.

The service was suspended because of damage caused to a helicopter during a forced landing last month.

The Emergency Aeromedical Service provides support and transport for patients requiring urgent medical attention for acute coronary conditions, stroke and trauma.

It covers large parts of the midlands, west, northwest and midwest.
