A man has been arrested in north Belfast in connection with the attempted murder of police officers in the Ardoyne area last Thursday.

The 33-year-old man is being questioned at Antrim police station.

Nationalist and loyalist youths took to the streets of north Belfast on Thursday night following a controversial Orange Order parade through the area.

Petrol bombs, pipebombs, bricks and bottles were thrown at the PSNI, with 20 police officers sustaining minor injuries.

Ten shots were also fired at them during the disturbances.
