The EuroScience Open Forum 2012 has held its final day of events and talks in Dublin.
The five-day conference, which ran alongside events to highlight Dublin’s title as European City of Science, saw hundreds of delegates attend talks and discussions from some of the leading figures in modern science.
Five Nobel laureates, the head of NASA and the head of the CERN research institute delivered keynote addresses, as did former president Mary Robinson and renowned biologist Craig Venter.
This afternoon's closing ceremony included a symbolic “handover” to Copenhagen, which will host the event in 2014.
ESOF has been held biannually in different cities since 2006. Previous host cities were Munich, Barcelona and Turin.
