Ireland will win one gold medal and four medals overall at the upcoming London Olympics, according to analysis conducted by investment bank Goldman Sachs.

Looking at a range of economic data and analysing performance at previous Olympics, Goldman has produced a forecast medal table for the 2012 games.

Ireland's predicted four-medal haul would be just one more than at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Goldman ranks Ireland 46th in the medal table.

It predicts the US will be the biggest winner with 108 medals overall, followed by China with 98 medals.
