An armed man took an adult hostage at a nursery school south of Paris, France, this morning.
The intruder entered the school in Vitry-sur-Seine on the southern edge of the capital shortly before opening time.
He freed the hostage after a few hours and later surrendered to police.
The parent was dropping their child off at the school, which is being used as a leisure centre during the holidays.
