A convoy of 15 coaches left Inniskeen, Co Monaghan, early this morning bound for the London Olympics.

The coaches and 30 drivers will be moving athletes to and from various venues during London 2012.

Matthews Coach Hire is the only transport company in the Republic that has secured a contract at the Games. In all, around 1,500 buses will be used daily by the athletes.

The drivers will be working there until the end of the Olympics in mid-August.

Irish companies have won contracts worth around €250m relating to the Games.
