Former workers at the Lagan Brick factory in Cavan say they are going to escalate their protest actions against the company around the country.
For the past 184 days, the 26 former workers at the Lagan Brick factory have been staging a round-the-clock protest at the gates of the premises in Kingscourt.
They are demanding a better redundancy deal from their former employers.
The factory shut just before Christmas.
The company said it had sustained serious losses at the factory and their best offer is on the table.
Mediation efforts have failed.
Today SIPTU announced an escalation of the protest action.
The union intends to go to various worksites where the Lagan Group has public contacts and stage a presence there.
Some weeks ago the former workers prevented the Lagan Group carrying out roadworks in the town of Kingscourt.
Lagan claims such actions will endanger other jobs in the group.
The company maintains that it has exceeded its redundancy obligations to its former workers and has been engaged in trying to find a resolution to the dispute although the workers strongly disagree.
The company has urged the former employees to end what they describe as the "unjust and illegal" protest at the factory gates.
