A decision on whether to bring a motion of censure against Independent TD Mick Wallace to the Dáil has been deferred until tomorrow.

The whips of the political groups in the Dáil are to meet tomorrow, after Deputy Wallace's tax affairs have been discussed by the Committee on Members' Interests.

The committee is to consider the issue at the request of the Ceann Comhairle.

Fianna Fáil whip Seán Ó Fearghaíl has repeated that if the Government or the Technical Group do not table such a motion "within a reasonable timeframe", his party will do so.

Deputy Government Whip Emmet Stagg said any such motion would "have to be legally proofed so as not to prejudice any actions by any other agencies."

Meanwhile, Mick Wallace's company MJ Wallace Ltd is included in the tax defaulters' list, which was published today by the Revenue Commissioners for the first three months of 2012.

Mr Wallace admitted last week that his company under-declared VAT and came to a €2.1m settlement with the Revenue Commissioners.

However, he has said the €2.1m is unlikely to be paid.

MJ Wallace Ltd is recorded as being in receivership and is listed for an under-declaration of VAT.

The figures show a tax under-declaration of €1,419,894, interest of €289,146 and penalties of €425,668, giving a total settlement of €2,133,708.

The listing is described as a revenue single premium insurance product investigation case.
