10,000 people are to be invited to attend a celebration at Stormont in Belfast later this month to celebrate the diamond jubilee of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth.
The Northern Ireland Office says the event will be held in the grounds of Parliament Buildings at Stormont and up to 10,000 free tickets will be made available to members of the public.
Details of how to apply will be released next week.
Members of the Northern Ireland Assembly, including the First Minister Peter Robinson and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, are also expected to be at Stormont during the celebration.
There is intense speculation that Mr McGuinness, the Sinn Féin MP and former IRA commander in Derry, will shake hands with the monarch.
The queen is due to arrive in Northern Ireland on 26 June, with plans to visit Co Fermanagh.
