An Post has issued two new stamps to mark the International Eucharistic Congress, which begins in Dublin on Sunday.
The 55c stamp features the chalice and host illustrating the importance of the eucharist to the catholic faith, while the blessed sacrament and monstrance is highlighted on the 82c stamp.
Both stamps were designed by Martin Barlow who described them as a “physical representation” of his faith.
Mr Barlow, who is to be ordained a deacon, said designing the stamps was his “chance to show in a pictorial form what the Eucharist and Church meant to me.”
An Post has also announced that a posting facility will be available at the main congress stand in the RDS, where a special souvenir congress postcard will be on sale.
A collector’s First Day Cover envelope can be purchased from 7 June together with the stamps, at the GPO Stamp Shop or online at www.irishstamps.ie
