The Army has been drafted in to assist in the search for missing Galway city resident David Gilligan.
The search operation for the 30-year-old Roscommon native has been ongoing for a week.
Mr Gilligan was last seen walking towards Dangan Heights, Newcastle in Galway, on 22 May. He is described as 6'1", with a broad build and short brown hair.
When last seen he was wearing dark tracksuit bottoms and a black Jack and Jones hoodie.
After completing a sweep of the river, the focus will now be on the ongoing land search.
30 members of the Army joined in the efforts today and will provide specialist help in the ground search of the greater Dangan area.
They will also be assisting in the co-ordination of a team of up to 100 volunteers from both Galway and Roscommon.
