St James's Hospital has published the details of its bid for the new national children's hospital.
The hospital is pitching for a tri-located paediatric, maternity and adult hospital on its campus.
It says it can build the new hospital for €510m and, subject to planning permission, could have it operational in three years time.
St James's bid is supported by the Medical Board of Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children.
The bid proposes building the new facility on a 15 and a half acre site on the St James's campus - on land currently owned by the State and zoned for hospital use.
The hospital board says the land has limited development on it and would be ready for construction within six months of receiving planning permission.
St James's says its pitch for a tri-located model would offer annual savings of €32m a year.
