This year's Liffey Swim has been moved from its traditional route because of construction works on the river.

For the first time in its 92-year history, it will not go through Dublin city centre.

It will start from the Customs House and finish at the East Link Bridge, with a slightly shorter distance of 1,600m.

Construction of the new public transport bridge at Marlborough Street has led to the change of route.

The event will also take place earlier this year on 18 August because of the Tall Ships Festival, which is starting on 23 August.
