The Mater Hospital Group has submitted a revised plan to locate the new National Children's Hospital on its site in Dublin.

An Bord Pleanála rejected the original plan last February.

The Mater group today said the height of the new hospital would be reduced by six storeys, to comply with requirements.

It also said that the hospital could be built by 2016, which would be sooner than other options.

The new proposal is 50% larger, because of the addition of another building on the site donated by the Sisters of Mercy.
