The former Cork to Swansea ferry, the MV Julia, set sail from Cork this morning for the Netherlands.

The ship, which is now known as Wind Perfection, has been tied up in the port of Cork for the past five months.

She stopped sailing after the co-operative owners of the Fastnet Line Ferry failed to raise funds to secure her future.

The ship is to undergo a re-fit before being used as a floating dormitory by Siemens to accommodate workers building and servicing offshore wind turbines in the North Sea.
