Electronics store Peats re-opened its doors in Dublin city centre today.

Earlier this month, the company went into liquidation resulting in the closure of 11 shops and the loss of 78 jobs.

However, this week the retailer said that "alternative solutions had emerged" after a reassessment of stock, debts and liabilities.

Its store on Parnell Street re-opened today, while the retailer  began trading again at its Rathmines outlet earlier this week.

Commenting on the re-opening, Chairman Ben Peat said: "It's an emotional but a good day.

"The phones have been hopping and people queuing around the block well before we officially opened. We've been blown away by the positive reaction we've had from customers, staff and suppliers.

"The support we've received has been nothing short of phenomenal.

"Clearly the Peat's brand resonates with people and it's great that we're still in business after 78 years, and we plan to be around a lot longer."
