The PSNI has begun an internal inquiry after an officer left a gun and ammunition in a house in north Belfast.
The pistol and bullets were left behind in the house in Ardoyne after officers investigating suspected dissident republican activity had searched the property.
20 minutes after the raid had ended police returned saying they had left something behind.
It is believed the gun had been left on a child's bed.
The PSNI says it takes the incident very seriously and has instigated an internal police investigation into how the weapon and ammunition came to be left in the house.
