A transatlantic flight made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport today after a passenger's mobile phone was found recharging in a toilet.

The Delta Airlines flight, which was carrying over 200 passengers, made the landing after reports of a suspicious item on board.

It was travelling from Istanbul in Turkey to New York in the United States.

It is reported that the phone which sparked the alert had been plugged into a shaver socket.

The alert was later confirmed as a false alarm.

The aircraft refuelled in Dublin before departing to continue its journey to John F Kennedy International Airport.
