The group representing small shopkeepers has expressed concerns about the impact of the sale of the National Lottery licence on their businesses.
RGDATA is seeking an urgent meeting with Minister for Public Expenditure & Reform Brendan Howlin to call for its current margin to be preserved by any new operator.
The Government is finalising the details of the sale of a 20-year lottery licence.
But RGDATA said these plans pose a threat to their revenue.
It claims a rumoured €600m sale price will force any new lottery owner to cut margins paid to retailers.
At the moment, they get €6 out of every €100 sold in tickets.
In response, a spokesperson for Brendan Howlin said the support of newsagents was vital and the minister would be happy to have discussions with RGDATA before finalising the sale.
It is expected that several international players will bid for the licence competing with current operator An Post.
Part of the money has been earmarked for a new children's hospital.
