175 new jobs are to be created by two separate companies - Apache Pizza and Galantas.

Apache Pizza is to create 125 new jobs in a significant expansion of its operations in the next 10 months.

Since opening its first two outlets in Dublin in 1996, Apache has grown to become one of Ireland's largest pizza chain, with over 50 stores nationwide.

Separately, Galantas Gold Corporation, a mining company that operates on both sides of the border, has also announced plans to create more than 50 new jobs.

Galantas was recently granted four exploration licenses in the Republic of Ireland and it now plans to expand its production and exploration to find and mine further gold deposits.

According to the company, the extra jobs could be created within a year if the necessary planning permits are forthcoming.
