A seventh resident of the Nazareth Private Nursing Home in Co Donegal has died after being diagnosed with influenza.

The latest victim passed away at Letterkenny General Hospital.

The patient was one of a group of patients who had been previously diagnosed with influenza.

The Health Service Executive said seven other residents were being closely monitored at the nursing home in Buncrana, with five showing definite signs of improvement.

There have been no new cases of influenza since last Wednesday.

"All residents in the nursing home are currently receiving either active or preventative treatment," a statement from the HSE said.

"The HSE North West Public Health team, including medical doctors, nurses and surveillance scientists, continue to closely manage and monitor the situation," it added.
