A deal announced today securing investment for 333 British Game stores will not affect the 14 stores that closed in Ireland last week.

The administrators of the Game Group have announced the sale of its remaining UK shops to private investment firm OpCapita.

The agreement guarantees the jobs of nearly 3,200 Game Group employees in Britain.

121 jobs went in Ireland when all Game stores here were shut.

Sit-in protests are continuing this weekend at several stores in a row over pay and redundancy.

Staff are occupying stores in Cork, Dublin, Athlone, Monaghan and Limerick.

Last week, managers got paid but remaining part-time staff are still waiting for their wages for March.
