The body of a 21-year-old man has been recovered from the River Shannon at Carrick-on-Shannon.
It is understood the man had gone swimming in the area yesterday afternoon and got into difficulties.
A search was carried out by the local sub-aqua club and local civil defence unit yesterday.
The Garda sub-aqua unit found the man’s body this afternoon.
It has been removed to Sligo General Hospital where a post mortem is expected to be carried out tomorrow.
