Four senior officers in the Defence Forces have been promoted.
The Colonels involved now become brigadier generals, the third highest rank in the Forces.
Brig Gen Colm Campbell becomes Assistant Chief of Staff at Defence Forces Headquarters.
Brig Gen Diarmuid Fitzgerald becomes General Officer Commanding Southern Brigade, Brig Gen Ger Aherne becomes GOC Western Brigade and Brig Gen Seamus O Giollain becomes GOC of The Curragh.
The promotions follow last week’s elevation of Major General Conor O'Boyle to a Deputy Chief of Staff.
All vacancies at general level have now been filled. Some had been vacant for several months.
