The Health Service Executive is to transfer responsibility for work placement and training for people on "supported employment programmes" to the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation and part of a joint plan with the training authority.
The HSE said today that the programmes would be developed in collaboration with FÁS, saying this would "accommodate the greater needs of people with disabilities".
The programmes run by the HSE adopt "broader" admittance criteria, and they want to see this adopted by FÁS who can offer a wider range of skills and workplaces.
