Around 30 members of the Occupy Cork movement took over a building on Oliver Plunkett Street in the city centre this evening.
The protest group says the building has been gifted to the people of Cork.
It is understood the building is linked to a loan held by NAMA, but the agency says it considers the building to be the responsibility of the owner.
The Occupy group says it plans to open the building to the public later this month offering a range of amenities including free financial and legal advice.
