The Irish Medicines Board has said that a recall of batches of two cancer treatment drugs is purely precautionary and that patients should not be concerned.
The recall relates to Busilvex and Velcade 3.5mg, which are used for the treatment of bone marrow cancer.
An inspection of the US based company's manufacturing site found several quality assurance problems with the sterilisation process and the theoretical risk of contamination.
No figures on the number of patients affected here are available. Replacement products are available for the drugs.
Meanwhile, Caelyx, which is used to treat breast cancer, is not being prescribed to any new patients, but those using it are advised to remain on it.
