Coillte Chief Executive David Gunning is to waive 15% of his salary as requested by Government.
In a statement, Coillte said at no stage did the Mr Gunning "decline to accept the proposed voluntary waiver".
"Coillte has consistently indicated that no decision had previously been made on the matter, which has been under consideration for some time," it added.
Yesterday, Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte said he regretted the fact Mr Gunning had so far not accepeted the waiver
The pay cut brings Mr Gunning in line with the €250,000 pay cap for chief executives on State bodies.
A spokesperson from the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform said it welcomed that all relevant CEOs have confirmed their intentions to take voluntary salary waivers in line with Minister Brendan Howlin's request.
