About 70 people today protested outside Leinster House against cuts to pensions for workers at Tara Mines.

Protest organiser Tom Kelly said that colleagues are facing a cut to their pensions that will rise to 2.4% each year.

He called on Minister for Finance Michael Noonan to force pension providers to absorb the Pension Fund Levy.

ICTU General Secretary David Begg said the pensions industry, and where possible employers, should absorb the levy rather than ordinary workers.
