Masses and memorial services have taken place throughout the country to remember those who have died on Irish roads.
168 people have died in traffic-related incidents in Ireland so far this year, however this is 29 fewer than the same period in 2010.
More than 23,000 people have died on Irish roads since records began in 1959, roughly the same population as Tralee in Co Kerry.
Today is World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims.
In Ireland, services took place in counties Dublin, Louth, Mayo, Waterford, Westmeath, Donegal, Carlow and Meath to mark the event.
