The Taoiseach and the Tánaiste have made a joint appeal for a yes vote in the two referendums to be held on Thursday, on judicial pay and oireachtas inquiries.

Enda Kenny dismissed as "nonsense" a claim by the Irish Council for Civil Liberties that giving the Oireachtas greater power of inquiry would lead to "kangaroo courts".

Asked about the views of eight former Attorneys-General, who yesterday issued a letter calling for no votes in the referendums, Eamon Gilmore said there was "a bit of an old boys network" about their statement yesterday.
